Cube
To find the surface area of a cube multiply one side by itself then multiply it by six or (a x a x 6) or (a^2 x 6)
Example
5 x 5 x 6=150
Surface Area=150
Surface Area=150
Rectangular Prisms
To find the surface area of a rectangular prisms find the area of each side and multiply it by two then add all of them together or ((h x w x 2) + (w x l x 2) + (h x l x 2)
Example
(5 x 8 x 2) + (5 x 4 x 2) + ( 8 x 4 x 2)
(80) + (40) + (64)=184
Surface Area=184
(80) + (40) + (64)=184
Surface Area=184
Cylinder
To find the Surface Area of a cylinder you multiply 2 times pi (3.14) times radius squared plus 2 times pi (3.14) times radius times height or ((2 x 3.14 x r ^2) + (2 x 3.14 x r x h))
If you have diameter you divided diameter by 2 to get your radius or (d/2=r)
If you have diameter you divided diameter by 2 to get your radius or (d/2=r)
Example with radius
(2 x 3.14 x 3 x 3) + (2 x 3.14 x 3 x 6)
56.52+113.04=169.56
Surface Area=169.56
56.52+113.04=169.56
Surface Area=169.56
Example with diameter
12/2=6
(2 x 3.14 x 6 x 6) + (2 x 3.14 x 6 x 16)
226.08 + 602.88=828.96
Surface Area=828.96
(2 x 3.14 x 6 x 6) + (2 x 3.14 x 6 x 16)
226.08 + 602.88=828.96
Surface Area=828.96
